The Source Code of Storytelling

The Source Code of Storytelling is about the science of crafting a compelling story—how to understand pacing, character, dialogue, and worldbuilding in a way that will help you create stories that demand to be read. It starts with the building blocks: developing good reading and research habits, the advantage of outlining, and building a storytelling toolbox. The course underscores the importance of developing your own voice and process; just because something works for me doesn’t mean it’ll work for someone else. But within the lessons are things you can adapt and meld to your own process. The goal is for the students to walk away with a better understanding of how stories are constructed, and how they can use their new tools to build out their own compelling stories.
