Writer’s Digest Annual Conference is going VIRTUAL in 2020!
The new dates are: November 5-7, 2020
We know there will be questions regarding this change so we created the page below to help. We encourage you to read through the questions and answers. After doing so, please feel free to reach out to customer service with additional questions. This process has been very fluid (like most things these days!) and we’re learning and finding out more information everyday. We will continue to update this page and our attendees as new information becomes available. We are also in the process of updating the website to reflect all of this new information. We cannot thank you enough for your support!
1. What are the dates?
The new dates of the Writer’s Digest Annual Conference are: November 5,6,7, 2020. The conference will be held virtually, NOT in person. The pre-conference workshop day will be Thursday, November 5 (workshops are available at an additional fee) followed by two days of the main conference (November 6 & 7)
2. Why did the dates change?
We did a lot of research to find the best possible platform to deliver the Writer’s Digest Annual Conference virtually. There is a high demand for platforms like the one we choose and we were unable to get our original dates. The extended timeline allows us to transition the event and make sure it runs as smoothly as possible for everyone involved.
3. What is the price?
- 40 Regular Sessions with the ability to ask questions live, interact with the speaker
- On-demand access to most sessions (We are still finding more information about length of time available, etc. Stay tuned)
- 1-2 Keynotes
- Networking with speakers, exhibitors, and other attendees
- Virtual Exhibitor hall to interact with service providers
Pitch Slam (must register for the main conference)
- Pitch Perfect Session conducted pre-conference
- Ability to pitch to agents and receive feedback wither live or by the end of the day on Saturday
- Ability to submit a query letter for the query letter director
Pre-Conference Workshops – Thursday, November 5
4. What can I expect from the virtual conference?
You can expect a slightly condensed schedule with almost all the same speakers and sessions that were going to be offered at the live event, opportunities to chat with exhibitors, networking with fellow attendees and speakers, Q&A’s with speakers and staff, participation in giveaways and other aspects of gamification around WD’s 100-year anniversary. You will also receive on-demand video access for most of the sessions (dependent on speaker approval) so you can decide when to view the sessions on your own schedule. Basically, a similar experience from the comfort of your own home with even more flexibility! We will provide additional information and visuals regarding the virtual platform shortly.
5. Will there still be a pitch slam?
Yes, we are still working out the details but there will be an opportunity to virtually pitch to agents and receive feedback for an additional fee of $149 added onto your basic conference registration.
6. How do I cancel?
Please contact us at email@example.com to submit your cancellation in writing for a full refund. Right now, our cancellation deadline is June 30, but given the later conference date we will extend the deadline to give everyone enough time to decide what they would like to do.
7. Can I have a credit for next year?
Yes, if you would like to roll your registration over to 2021, we can provide you with a credit letter for 2021. Please contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
8. I’d like to keep my registration but there is a price difference, how will I be refunded?
You will receive a refund for any price differences. We are going to work on full refunds first then will get to each price difference refund. It will be refunded to your original form of payment unless your credit card payment was made more than 120 days ago. If that is the case, the refund will come via check.
9. What do I do if I already made hotel reservations?
We are working with our housing bureau, EventSphere on the cancellations. They will be providing more information soon via email. You are welcome to reach out to them as well if you wish. Please keep in mind without live events and hotel reservations their business has hit a standstill so they are working with a very short staff. It make take slightly longer for them to get back you. 855-235-6016 or email: email@example.com
10. When and where is the 2021 event?
The plan is to go back to a live event when we are able. As of right now, the 2021 conference dates are: July 22 – July 25, 2021, at the New York Hilton Midtown. Thursday, July 22 will be the pre-conference day where education is available for an additional fee as we’ve done in the past.
